If you are staying in the same region for an extended period of time and you need satellite connectivity a single regional beam will most often be sufficient for your requirements.
This doesn’t mean that you will need to stay in the same location all the time though. You can easily move around within the coverage area (or footprint) of the satellite beam.
If you need to regularly move to a different location then you might want to select a system that is able to be deployed automatically and a platform that will automatically detect your location and adjust its parameters correctly based on GPS.
While a regional service usually offers a single beam to cover a certain location some providers will be able to allow you to connect to several beams so that should there be line of sight blockage you will have an alternative.
These combined regional beams will also enlarge the available footprint and allow you to move further without paying global connectivity rates.
